Aberdeen 6 - 1 Hamilton

Form in the Premier Reserve League took a dramatic turn for the better with two successive six-goal victories.
Following the romp against Dundee on February 4th the second team kept up the mood with a 6-1 win over Hamilton at Pittodrie. This was on the day that the first team fixture with the Accies was postponed, thus enabling the players to get back to Pittodrie in time to see the fifth and sixth goals go in.
One of the big successes has been the form of Andy Gibson, signed recently from Stirling Albion. Andy, Ian Jess and Steve Gray scored two each against Hamilton as Dons ran into a 4-goal lead by half-time. "Andy came to us with the ability to play in either midfield or up front," explains coach Teddy Scott. "We played him in a forward role in those two games and we scored six in each - so that's where he will remain for now." The feeling when he was signed was that he was 'one for the future' rather than being the finished, first team article but he is quickly making progress in the right direction.
"It was a fine all-round team performance against Hamilton,' Scott added. "Some of the young boys especially did very well for us." In addition to the goalscorers there were good individual performances from the likes of Lee Gardner and Steve Wright. Jess got the scoring show on the road with an early strike and Gray added a second from a free kick.
Gibson's first goal and a Gray penalty took it to that untouchable half-time lead. Jess and Gibson then completed the rout in the second half before their first team audience. The match also produced a mixture of good news and bad on the injury front. Alan Selbie was on the field only 15 minutes before being forced off with a nasty knee injury to be replaced by one of the substitues, Andy Roddie.
The more cheerful feature was that David Robertson played for an hour with no ill-effects from the knee he injured in the Hogmanay match at Dundee. David has been out of the first team since then having undergone exploratory surgery to confirm there is no cartilage damage.

The youth team has been warming up as much as possible for the March date with Celtic in the BP Youth Cup. In one friendly laid on for this purpose the Young Dons beat Inverurie Locos 2-0 with goals by Jess and Roddie.
