Young Gers Blast The Dons

This was a game more of physical strength than football skills with the stronger Rangers players coming out on top, our boys never got a chance to settle to our usual pattern as the Rangers defenders tackled hard and fast. We can learn a lot from the game, mainly:- Our defenders will have to be quicker in the tackle, mark opponents tighter and show more confidence in their play, especially in away games. Our forwards will have to get sharper to the ball and move it a bit quicker. Ian Gibson, Ernie Drews and Ian Wilson all suffered injuries with the result of being caught in possession.
Noel Ward had another good game in goal, and if he was to work in training as a goalkeeper I'm sure he could be a first class keeper. Bobby Glennie and Neil Cooper also played well in defence, both these boys have the right temperament for playing against the big teams. Billy Pirie tried very hard and some of his efforts deserved a better reward. Jim Henry was unfortunate to clash with Doug Rougvie, with the result he suffered from a headache and double vision, he insisted on carrying on, he was forced to come off at half time as his headache was getting worse. John Docherty who replaced Jim, finished the game as one of our best players.
