Cooper Is Spot On For Reserves

We drew 1-1 with Hearts Reserves at Tynecastle in a game, where very little skill was in evidence. In miserable conditions very few passes were strung together and it was a case of clear your lines at all cost. Nothing was "built up" from the defence, and midfield players either gave bad passes, or our strikers were running away from the ball, instead of coming looking for it. We lost the goal when a careless pass by Doug Considine to Andy Watson was intercepted by one of the Hearts midfield players, who got the break of the ball in a tackle with Neil Cooper and with no covering defender in position, the Hearts player ran on to beat John Gardiner from ten yards. Our goal was scored by Neil Cooper from the penalty spot after Alan Oliver, chasing a through ball, was bundled by the keeper inside the penalty area. Only John Gardiner and Andy Dornan played to the standard we expect from our players.
