THE young Dons have opened their Reserve League programme with two wins 4-2 against Hibs at Meadowbank and 3-2 against Dundee at Pittodrie. The encouraging feature about the results is the fact that the wins have been achieved without playing at our best.
Against Dundee, for instance, we were poor in midfield, with both John Craig and Jim Henry out of touch. Despite this, the lads showed the right spirit to go on and win - through a penalty kick by big Doug Rougvie, which gave him his fourth goal of the season. Also on target was Walker McCall, scoring in his fourth consecutive game.
The absence of Andy Geoghegan against Dundee saw the introduction of City Police goalkeeper Keith Davidson, who has also been playing for Lewis United. Keith certainly showed no lack of confidence, and must go down as one of the few goalkeepers at Pittodrie to take a throw-in He was quick to react when the ball went out of play near the corner flag. He threw to Neil cooper, took the return and went into the penalty box to clear downfield.
Bobby Street continues to get his 'half game' in his fight back to full fitness, and he has been showing good form.
