Edwards Does The Trick

The line-up against Falkirk was much stronger and the five goals were stretched across the 90 minutes with the opener early on and the fifth in the last few minutes. The two outstanding performers were Ian Porteous, who beavered away throughout creating chances while also scoring twice himself and Edwards, who netted a hat-trick and helped in the other two. Between them they posed a threat that was always beyond Falkirk's scope.
First of all Porteous was brought down 20 yards out and Edwards stepped forward to smash a superb long-range free-kick into the net. Then Edwards nodded down for Porteous to make it 2-0 at half-time.
Early in the second-half Edwards made it 3-0, Porteous produced the fourth and Edwards completed his hat-trick after 85 minutes.
'It was a very good team display' said coach Scott.' Porteous did a great deal of running and Edwards proved again that he is a dangerous finisher.'
On the occasions that Falkirk were able to put attacks together the defence stood firm with Brian Irvine sound as always and Greg Watson also in good form. Scott Harvie returned to the side after being out with Chicken Pox.
