Clyde 0 - 1 Aberdeen

At Shawfield, Glasgow, before an attendance of 5000. For the first twenty minutes the exchanges were very even, and there was little to choose between the teams. Both sets of forwards finished very poorly, and lost many good scoring chances. In the latter portion Clyde, mainly through the exertions of their half-backs, got the upper hand, and maintained a persistent pressure, which the Aberdeen defence successfully withstood. Greig had one or two meritorious saves, and at half-time there was no scoring. Aberdeen played well at the resumption, and after Soye had put in some good work he put in a fine centre which Lennie converted. Aberdeen after this success played a fine game in the open, but their forwards finished very poorly, although Travers had one fine effort , which Grant was lucky to tip over the bar. The Clyde's forwards were very disappointing, and never at any period looked like getting the equaliser. Their defence was very safe, and saved them from a bigger defeat. Result:- Aberdeen, one; Clyde, none.

Aberdeen, who have fared so indifferently at home in the Scottish League this season had a brilliant rally at Shawfield Park, Glasgow, on Saturday, when they defeated Clyde by the only goal of the match. There were 8000 spectators. Clyde had out an experimental team, several of the leading forwards being dropped on account of recent adverse results, and Aberdeen had one notable change, Greig taking the place of king in goal. Taking the game all over, Aberdeen were full value for their win, even a loving that they were a trifle lucky not to be in arrears at half-time. The second half's play helped to redeem the indifferent show given by both teams in the first period. Either side found its form for quite a long time, although in the first half Clyde were always the more dangerous, and but for the solid play of Colman, Hannah and Greig, they must have scored. As it was, several corners fell to their lot, and on two occasions Hannah and Colman nearly sent through their own goal. Aberdeen only occasionally threatened, yet grant had only twice to handle - a long shot by Wilson and a header by Main. The defensive duel continued until the interval, when there was no scoring.

The restart was sensational. Soye broke off and centered finely, and main caught up the ball, and grant partially cleared, but Lennie, lying handy, banged the ball through. The goal change the whole aspect of the game, and from that time play was quite strenuous and interesting. On several occasions Aberdeen came near to increasing their lead, while Clyde, if they were slack in their shooting, also came near to scoring. Once Wilson blocked a shot from Walker which must have gone home. Hannah and Colman put up a very fine defence, their work, indeed, being the feature of the game. Aberdeen, with their lead, played up confidently, and grand saved twice when it seemed the goals must have followed. Near the close Travers missed a rare opportunity of finding the net.
