Zdrilic at the double

Aberdeen this beat Highland League side Inverurie Locos 2:0 in the Centenary Challenge Match. In what was a useful run out ahead of the trip to Ibrox on Saturday, both goals were scored in the first half by Australian striker David Zdrilic.
After a couple of early chances for the home side Aberdeen went ahead when Russell Anderson released the ball to Zdrilic on the left. The striker ran in and placed his shot past the goalkeeper into the left hand corner.
Five minutes later the Aussie struck again. A cross from the right by Kevin Rutkiewicz allowed Zdrilic to fire home.

In the second half Zdrilic could have claimed his hat trick when given time in the box but shot wide and fellow striker Hinds also had a good chance but his shot was blocked on the goal line. Substitutes Tarditi and McNaughton both saw chances saved by the replacement keeper Mellough. At other end, Ryan Esson saved well from Young.
On the night there were a number of positives for the Reds. Keeper Esson came through his first game since recovering from a lengthy injury. Also youngsters Richard Buckley, Stephen Tarditi and Murray McCulloch were given a run out with the senior side.
