Partick Thistle Break a Record.
Aberdeen "A" dropped their first points of the season at Firhill, when they sustained a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Partick Thistle. Although beaten, the visitors were far from disgraced, and are still safe at the top of the Alliance League table. Aberdeen opened in good style, and after David had sent past, Wilson missed a good chance. Partick retaliated, and Beath missed narrowly. The Thistle had slightly the better of the exchanges, but Cooper and Legge put up a stout resistance. Smart play by McLeod gave McGorm a chance, but he sent past. Soon afterwards, Blackwell saved a header from Reid. Although the home team held a slight advantage, Aberdeen were often dangerous. On the resumption, Wilson and Donald in the Aberdeen side changed places, but this did not Improve matters. Play was of a fast, keen, and exciting nature, both goals having escapes. In a Partick attack, Ross shot over, and shortly afterwards, from a foul by McLeod, Reid headed the all-important goal.Source: Press & Journal, 30th September 1929
