Young Dons At A Kanter

We played Arbroath in a closed door friendly game, and this gave us the opportunity to play Dom Sullivan and Joe Smith who have not played for either team for some time. Both players had a good work out, and the game resulted in a 2-2 draw, with Pye and Watson giving us a two goal lead, but after dominating the first half, slackness on our part allowed Arbroath to score two late goals.

In our League Fixture at Firhill we had no trouble in beating Partick Reserves by three goals to nil. Our scorers were Alec McLeish with a fine header from Dom Sullivan's corner kick. Our Junior trialist playing at centre forward scored our second when he out-jumped the Thistle goalkeeper to head home a David Scott cross.
Ian Gibson scored our third goal, when our trialist chested the ball down for hi m. Gibby turned quickly to score with a low shot into the corner of the net. John Gardiner playing in goal had a quiet match, but his reading of the game is improving all the time. John is a big help to his fellow defenders with some timely shouts.
Our back four of Scott, McLeish, Cooper and Glennie are playing very well at the moment, and opposing forwards are going to find it difficult to score. Dom Sullivan playing in mid-field along with Andy Watson and Joe Smith had a good game and often had the Partick defenders in trouble with good runs down the touch line and good crosses. Andy and Joe worked hard and Joe's long passing was one of the features of the game.
Ian Gibson had another fine game and struck up a good partnership with our trialist. It's a long time since Gibby scored two goals in successive games,. so here's hoping he has got his goal scoring touch back again.
Our trialist showed a lot of promise. He has good ball control, and is good in the air, I'm sure we will be seeing more of him.
