Aberdeen 'A' Get A Fright

Great Display by Buckie.

In an Aberdeen and District League fixture at Buckie, Aberdeen A got a bad fright, only a last-minute goal enabling them to share the spoils. The Thistle defence gave a great display, and that, combined with a weak Aberdeen attack, kept the Pittodrie team from collecting both points.
Play ruled from end to end at the start, but eventually Aberdeen attacked vigorously, and the Buckie defence was kept on the stretch. Wood saved from Mackenzie, and Merrie shot past. The home team retaliated, and after McIntosh had lost possession near goal, Blackwell saved a header from G. Newlands. Buckie persevered and were rewarded when Newlands gave them the lead. This acted as a stimulant on Aberdeen, and Polland was prominent with a good try, but Buckie defended gallantly. After end-to-end play Aberdeen once more took the offensive, and shots by Falloon and Wilson went near. At the other end Blackwell was in action to shots from G. Newlands and Murray. Despite desperate efforts by the visitors, Buckie held their lead until the interval.
Aberdeen attacked strongly on the resumption, and a shot by Donald went past, while an effort by Falloon went over. A free kick outside the penalty area resulted in Muir striking the crossbar, and then, through a misunderstanding in the home defence, Wilson equalised. With, three minutes to go Aberdeen made a desperate but unsuccessful effort to secure the winning goal.
