Revenge For Young Dons
WE FINISHED our Reserve League Cup programme with two good wins ? 4-2 at Dunfermline, and 2-1 against Hearts at Pittodrie. This put us level at the top, but the Tynecastle team's much better goal difference put them through.
Wednesday's game against Hearts was an entertaining one, and the spectators who turned out won't see better goals all season. Walker McCall hit a tremendous shot on the turn between the keeper and the near post, and then John Craig cracked home a great free kick from 22 yards. The Hearts' goal was also direct from a free kick, this time by Highlander Donald Park, who caused our young defenders most trouble when he ran at them with fine through passes from the experienced Tommy Murray. In both our games young Neil Cooper enjoyed the switch from a striking to a sweeping role, and against Hearts he teamed up effectively with Noel Ward to snuff out any danger from the experienced Eric Carruthers.
