Aberdeen 'A' Stands Firm

More fortunate than the first eleven, Aberdeen "A" retained the leadership of the Alliance League along with Rangers "A." Since suffering defeat at the hands Nithsdale Wanderers in the opening game of the season Aberdeen "A" have not lost a point, and their victory over Motherwell "A" by two goals to nothing at Pittodrie on Saturday was well deserved. The visitors had as sound a defence as Aberdeen, but although they had a smart attack, especially the right wing, it was not as good as the home quintette. David (Mugiemoss) and Livingstone (Banks o* Dee), two local juniors who were included in the Aberdeen side, both rendered good service, the former securing both his side's goals.
Gerrard was the first 'keeper in action, but he had no difficulty in collecting a weak effort by Hill. Play ranged quickly from end to end, with Aberdeen more than holding their own. In an Aberdeen raid Donald got through, but Gerrard saved his effort in clever style, and a minute later McLaren went near with a fierce drive. Gerrard, in the Motherwell goal, was given plenty to do by David and Donald. The visitors' right wing had a fine understanding, and it was from this quarter that all the danger came. Douglas almost counted with a smart header, which Blackwell got with nothing to spare. Following a corner Craig had a smart effort only inches high, and Blackwell shortly afterwards had to fist away a shot by Douglas. Aberdeen once more assumed the offensive, and shortly before the interval took the lead through David.

LIVELY EXCHANGES.

The exchanges in the second period were of a very lively nature, but the game was somewhat spoiled by frequent stoppages for minor offences. The homesters were early dangerous, and after Gerrard had saved from David at the expense of a corner, Hill headed over. The home centre was again prominent, having to save from him at point blank range. After the visiting custodian had made a rather lucky save from Livingstone, play was transferred to the other end, where Blackwell held a free kick from Craig. With twenty minutes gone, the homesters increased their lead through David in a goalmouth scrimmage. Although Motherwell made desperate efforts to reduce the leeway, Aberdeen had no difficulty in retaining their advantage.
