Easy For Aberdeen 'A'

Aberdeen "A" recorded their second victory in the Alliance competition on Saturday against Hibs "A" at Pittodrie. The young Dons beat their opponents by six goals to two. McFarlane registered the "hat-trick" while Donald scored two goals, McLaren also netting from a penalty. Yuille was in excellent form in goal, while Cooper was a grand back. Young, the Inverurie Locos half-back, was the best middleman on the field, and it is expected that Aberdeen will fix him up. McLaren was a very successful pivot, while Hill added to his reputation. The forwards were cleverly led by McFarlane, while Love and Donald were a fine wing. McLeod, too, was in good form.

Six thousand spectators saw Aberdeen "A" whack Hibernians "A" by six goals to two in their first home Alliance League game of the season. The four goals' margin in no way flatters the Pittodrie eleven, which from first to last held the upper hand. In two breaks-away at the finish Hibs secured their two goals, one from a penalty. Aberdeen "A" were superior in all departments from goalmouth outwards.
Aberdeen pressed from the start, and the visitors were almost entirely confined to their own half of the field. Several times Aberdeen came within an ace of scoring, but it was after twenty-three minutes' play when McFarlane gave them the lead. After this Aberdeen became more dangerous near goal, and Harris had to save from Love, McFarlane, and Donald. Half an hour had gone before Yuill in the home goal made his first save of the match from Thomson. The home defence could more than cope with the Hibs' attack, and Yuill got very little to do. McFarlane got through on his own to increase the Aberdeen total. It was with an element of luck that Hibs were not further in arrears at the interval.
On the resumption it looked as if the visitors were to make a fight of it after all, Yuill having to save from Connell and Martin. It was only a flash in the pan, however, and after seven minutes' play McLaren, from a penalty, added a third goal for Aberdeen. Love and Donald set up a fine understanding on the home right wing and often had the Hibs' defence in a quandary. Donald increased the Aberdeen total in clever style, while shortly afterwards McFarlane completed his hat trick. All at sea, the visitors' defence was again penetrated, Donald counting a sixth time from close range. Then something of a sensation occurred. In two excursions into Aberdeen territory Hibernians scored through Connell and Wilks, the latter from a penalty.
