Six Appeal for Aberdeen

An Aberdeen XI ran out comfortable winners this evening against Keith at Kynoch Park in a testimonial match for Dean Donaldson.

Aberdeen lined up with Jason Brown in goal, Jordon Brown at right back, Folly & Rumsby at centre half and Jamie Masson at left back. Megginson played wide right Jack & Clark were in centre midfield and , Magennis wide left. Mackie was partnered up front by Chalali.

The Dons struggled to get much going in the first half and the side, a mixture of the subs from Sunday and the U19s, were not as fluent in their play as they could have been. In the 15th minute there was concern for the Dons when Yoann Folly had to be substituted. The midfielder is just making his way back after a long injury layoff. Yoann was replaced by Stephen O'Neill. O'Neill was unlucky not to score during the first period. The other good chance of note came when a Magennis header was saved by the keeper and Megginson saw his follow up effort cleared off the line. With Folly off Ryan Jack had to play at centre half and he had an excellent game.

After the break the Dons stepped it up a gear and scored after on a minute of the restart. Magennis set up Mohamed Chalali who scored his first goal in an Aberdeen jersey. The Algerian had a good game and looked lively throughout. The second goal came on 49 minutes. Scott Rumsby won the ball after a good tackle and he set up captain for the evening Darren Mackie. 2 minutes later Chalali grabbed his second after Magennis passed inside and Chalali curled the ball into the bottom corner. Then just before the hour mark Chalali played a great through ball for Mitch Megginson who scored.

The fifth goal came three minutes later. Full back Jamie Masson made a good long run from inside his own half. He played a one two with Mackie and then tucked the ball into the corner. An excellent goal. On 65 minutes Neil Cooper made a number of changes and youngsters Carse, Smith and McManus were given a run out.

The final goal came on 80 minutes from Megginson made a fine run down the right. He crossed for Declan McManus who slotted home. The Dons ran out comfortable winners and played some good football at times. To be fair to Keith though they were still recovering from the disappointment of losing the Aberdeenshire Cup final on Saturday 6-5 to Deveronvale so there were a few tired legs.
