Dons Win at Buckie

There was a spate of goals in the match at Victoria Park, Buckie, last night, when Buckie Thistle opposed Aberdeen in a match in connection with the Dewar Shield postponed from last year.
Aberdeen were superior in the first half. Through their speed and clever tactics they were too much for their Highland League opponents.

Williams opened the scoring in the first minute and this upset Buckie. When the homesters found their feet Bain shot narrowly past. From a free kick just outside the penalty box Taylor put Aberdeen two up. The best that Buckie could do was to force a fruitless corner. Wood was kept busy in goal and Pattillo placed the ball into the net after a shot which struck the post. At length Buckie pressed strongly and Calder beat Smith all the way. Pattillo missed an open goal but later made amends and mde no mistake from close in. Before the interval Baird brought Aberdeen's total to six against a claim for offside.

Buckie pressed at the restart but missed an opportunity at the goalmouth after end to end play. A header from Pattillo struck the bar and then he smashed the ball into the net. G.Smith reduced the leeway and then Bain beat the defence and scored a beauty. Buckie dictated play for a time and deserved further goals. Their pressure told when Bain shot from the wing into the corner of the net. Following a free kick Calder dashed through and netted another goal. Aberdeen tried hard to add to their score but were foiled in every attempt and an entertaining game ended without further scoring.
