Aberdeen U l9s had a superb result away to League leaders Hibernian. The Edinburgh side are a formidable outfit with a number of players expected to make the step up next season, so for Aberdeen's much younger team it was a very encouraging result.
The Dons started the game well and took the lead after only 5 minutes. Nicky Low played a great ball into the near post. It looked like it was a Hibs defender who put the ball past his own keeper although Gilli Sorensen made sure the ball was over the line. Shortly after that Crawford headed over from a Nicky Clark corner.
The Dons received a blow when the impressive Sorensen had to be substituted after he received a knock. Gilli was replaced by Callum McRobbie. Shorty after coming on McRobbie had a good chance to make it two when the ball was squared to him on the edge of the box however he failed to beat the keeper.
Aberdeen started the second half well but then lost a bad goal. A simple ball through the channel was not dealt with by the defence and Russell equalised for Hibs on 49 minutes. Aberdeen came back though and missed a number of good chances. Peter Pawlett was through on goal after incredibly just blasting past the Hibs defence with his pace. Peter tried to chip the keeper but did not quite get his effort right. McRobbie and Megginson also had good chances in the second half.
At the other end Scott Bain was once again in fine form. He had an outstanding save from a shot from 25 yards which appeared to be heading for the top left corner of the net but he tipped the ball over the bar. Great save. Later on in the game Hibs had a bit of pressure and Bain had anolhEs good save dMng at an attackers feet.
On 82 minutes Nicky Clark was sent off for his second bookable offence. The first booking on 76 minutes was extremely harsh. Clark won the ball in a tackle but referee James Bee decided it was a free kick. Clark enquired abar the decision and was promptly booked.
Down to ten men, Aberdeen had to deal with a fair bit of pressure in the closing stages but they defended very wel and held on for a draw, the very least they deserved from the game.

After the game Neil Cooper said, "I was really pleased with the performance. I thought the 3-1 scoreline earlier in the season flattered Hibs a bit and I did not think there was a lot between the sides. The boys played a lot of good football today and probably deserved to actually win the game."
