First Minute Stavrum Goal Seals Three Points

A first minute CATO GUNTVEIT goal helped the Don's to a brilliant 1-0 victory over high-flying Hibs. Guntveit capitalized on a Martin McIntosh mistake to drive the ball past Hibs keeper Nick Colgan, to notch his first goal of the season. The win moves the Dons up one place in the league, up to ninth past St Johnstone.

Aberdeen were in control for most of the first half, and never really looked like losing throughout, and should have really scored more than one. Good forward work by Kevin McNaughton almost earned Aberdeen a second goal on the half hour mark, but the Hibs defence stood strong.

Robbie Winters came close to making it 2-0 early on in the second half, but the Scotland international couldn't find a way past Colgan. Martin McIntosh's nightmare was nearly made worse when he deflected a Stavrum shot just wide, causing panic in the visitors defence.

Nick Colgan put in a brave performance, pulling off a string of impressive saves to deny the Dons more goals.

Colgan made a wonderful point blank save in the 82nd minute, preventing Arild Stavrum from making it 2-0 to the Dons, after the Norwegian was put clean through by Robbie Winters. Moments later Colgan saved again from Stavrum, and effectively kept Hibernian in the game.

Despite Hibs having more of the possesion late on, the Aberdeen defence never really looked threatened, and the Dons held out to earn a well deserved three points.
