Kenny Miller Header Wins It For Hibs

Aberdeen stay rooted to the bottom of the Scottish premier League, after a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hibs at Easter Road. The game was a typical end of season affair with neither side creating many chances. The Dons began the game well, showing some of the commitment that has been lacking of late. Arild Stavrum looked lively up front and keen to keep up hi impressive scoring record. Hicham Zerouali, complete with new hairstyle was left on the substitutes bench as he recovers from his latest injury.

The first real chance of the match fell to Grant Brebner. The ex-Manchester United youngster fired in a long range effort which caught Jim Leighton 6 yards of his line, but couldn't find the net. Stavrum brought out the best in Hibs keeper Nick Colgan when his low drive forced Colgan into an impressive save. The Dons brought on Hicham Zerouali at half time in a bid to spice up the second half and put some pressure on the Hibs defence. Seven minutes into the second half a speculative free kick from Nick Colgan went over the head of Hibs team mate Dirk Lehman, and onto the head of KENNY MILLER who put it past Jim Leighton to make it 1-0 to Hibs after 52 minutes.

Dirk Lehman came close to making it 2-0 to Hibs midway through the second half, he beat Jim Leighton but his shot went wide of the target. In the dying minutes Frank Sauzee and Derek Lilley squared up to each other, and both were booked for their troubles.

Few of the Dons team deserved pass marks for an uninspiring performance, although Derek Young and substitute David Rowson, making his first appearance of the season, were exceptions. Jim Leighton also produced a couple of top drawer saves to prevent a heavier defeat.
