Aberdeen continued their poor run of form, when they were defeated 3-0 by Dundee Utd at Tannadice. To rub even more salt in the wounds, ex-Don Billy Dodds grabbed one of the three goals. Dundee United almost opened the scorers when Jason De Vos had a goal dissallowed for offside.
However, that was about the height of the Dons luck in the game, and 15 minutes later it was no surprise when Kjell Ollafson opened the scoring for the home side. Jim Leighton will look back on the goal, and perhaps feel that he could have done better.

Dons youngster Dennis Wyness did however provide a positive side to the game for the Dons. He was Aberdeen's only threat during a frustrating 90 minutes. He brought out one of the saves of the season from Sieb Dykstra in the United goal, when Dykstra amazingly kept it out of the goalmouth. The score remained 1-0 at the break, but it took only 3 minutes of the second half for Billy Dodds to strike against his old club. The cross came across, and Dodds managed to find himself with a free header to make it 2-0.

66 minutes gone, and David Hannah scored his first for the club on his return from Celtic, to make it 3-0 and well out of Aberdeen's reach. New loan signing from Man Utd, Alex Notman came on with 7 minutes remaining, but it was too little, too late for anyone to make a serious outcome of this game, and the Dons were well beaten.

Final score, Aberdeen 0-3 Dundee Utd
