BETTER SHOWING AS DONS ARE EDGED OUT BY BRONDBY

A Robbie Winters strike, two minutes after the break, was not enough to prevent Aberdeen from going down 2-1 to Brondby in Copenhagen this evening.

The Dons had a great chance to take the lead in the 20th minute when McNaughton went on one of his runs and played a one-two with Winters. His finishing though was not good enough. Two minutes later while searching for this opener, Aberdeen were hit with a sucker punch break. A long ball over the top let Brondby attack down the flanks and the cross was guided past Preece by Peter Madsen.

The Dons continued to search for an equaliser though and Mackie's pace was causing the Danes a few problems. Finishing the moves though was proving to be a problem. Preece made an outstanding save in the 37th minute, turning a fierce drive round his post. Unfortunately it was wasted when poor defending saw Brondby increase their lead from the resultant corner. Thomas Lindrup eventually turning the ball in from six yards.
The Dons pulled one back two minutes into the restart when Robbie Winters found the target. The Dons went on to match Brondby in the second half with a performance that gives the supporters a bit more hope for the season ahead especially after some of the doom and gloom forecasts following the defeat at Koge.

In the dying seconds the Dons thought they had equalised as the Brondby keeper appeared to drop the ball into his own net. The goal was disallowed though and the Dons had to settle for a narrow defeat.
