Early strikes damage Dons Euro hopes

After the embarrassing ease of the first round passage the Dons were handed a far more serious test in the second round as they were paired with Belgium side Standard Liege. The Belgians had an impressive European pedigree having reached the last four of all three European competitions in the past. The Scottish novices were handed a quick lesson from the seasoned campaigners and found themselves trailing 2-0 with only eleven minutes on the clock. A third goal after the interval left the Dons with a huge mountain to climb back at Pittodrie.
