QUEEN of the South are in danger. Their fate hangs in the balance. They have a total of twenty-three points with one game to go - against Morton at Greenock.

They threw everything into an effort to beat the Dons at dumfries last night. They were unsuccessful. The game ended in stalemate, neither team scoring.
The forwards of both sides had chances to win the game. Houliston, centre forward, and Stephens, outside right, had the winning of the game for "Queens." Harris and Kelly missed for Aberdeen.
The brighter and neater football passages came from the Dons, but they could not produce the goals.
Queen of the South adopted blitzkrieg methods - to them the points were invaluable.
Their frenzied attacks broke down in the penalty area, mainly because they lacked a cool head in attack.
Johnstone, in the Aberdeen goal, was good. He had a busy time. McLaughlin and McKenna played steadily at back, but the defence hinged on Roy at centre half. The former St Mirren player held Houliston in tight grip just as he did Thornton last Saturday.
The Dons' attack did not knit together. There were individual bursts, but no cohesive brilliance. Harris received an ankle injury early in the second half and switched positions with Stenhouse.
Outstanding incidents in the first half were a brilliant full-length save bv Johnstone from Jenkins and a Kelly-Harris-Stenhouse move which ended with the first-named failing to find the net from close range.

Chances Missed

"Queens" missed two glorious scoring chances in the second half the first when Houliston failed to make contact with a cross from Stephens, and again when Stephens was clean through as the result of a lob from Law and failed to mak' siccar.
