As the city of Aberdeen reminisced on the Gothenburg Greats of old, there was still football to be played in the CAS 18?s League as Aberdeen took on Rangers.

The game got off to a slow start with not many chances for either team until the fifteenth minute where some nice build up play from Aberdeen saw the ball be played out to Victor Enem who squared the ball across goa but was collected well by Rangers goalkeeper Mason Munn.
Three minutes later, in the eighteenth minute there was shouts for a penalty after Cameron Wilson broke past the Rangers back line and into the box but seemingly got held back by the Rangers centre back. However, the referee deemed it to not be a penalty and play continued.
Aberdeen were on the attack again in the thirtieth minute as Adam Emslie got the ball in a good area just outside the box. He was able to shift it onto his favourable right foot and hit a curling effort that just went over the crossbar.
Only a minute later in the thirty first minute a good corner taken by Dylan Lobban was met by the head of Blair McKenzie, whose effort looked promising, but the attempt went over the bar.
Rangers first proper chance of the game came in the thirty third minute as Tyler Pasnik gets the ball on the edge of the box and hits a powerful strike that worried Aberdeen goalie Rodrigo Vitols but the shot ended up going wide.
Eleven minutes later, some nice passing play from Aberdeen ended with Alfie Stewart getting the ball outside the box and striking a high shot that sailed over the bar.
The final chance of the half came right on the stroke of half time after a great tackle from Enem right on the edge of the Rangers box allowed him space to drive into the box and square the ball over to Emslie whose effort went just past the post.
Going in at the break both teams knew it wouldn?t take much to tip the balance of the match.

The second half got underway, and it was more of the same, not many chances at either end. The majority of the ball was being played in the middle of the park.
However, in the fifty sixth minute the deadlock was broken as a cross into the box is touched and volleyed perfectly by Blair McKenzie on the swivel. The volley came from around 12 yards out and smashed into the right-side netting. What a finish from the big defender!
In the sixty eighth minute a good ball in from Dylan Lobban was flicked on by McKenzie and volleyed by Alfie Stewart. His effort just grazed the crossbar as it went over the bar.
As the game neared its conclusion Adam Emslie looked as if he was going to add his name to the scoresheet. He was played through and was one-on-one with the Rangers goalie. However, some brilliant defending and tracking back from the Rangers centre back meant he was able to get the tackle in and keep Rangers in touching distance.
The final chance of the game came one minute later as Emslie was amongst the chances again. This time wrapping his foot round the ball and trying to curl the ball past the Rangers goalkeeper. This time however some heroic blocking from the Rangers defence meant the ball bobbled away.
The full-time whistle went and there was elation from the young Dons as they secured all three points and more importantly a strong team performance to get their season back on track.
