Aberdeen 6 - 0 Hamilton

A chilly night under the Cormack Park lights was the venue for a top of the table clash as Aberdeen took on Hamilton Accies, with both teams battling it out for an edge over their league opposition.

The visitors started the game strongly but in the ninth minute the ball was picked up by Alfie Bavidge on the halfway line and he drove towards goal. Some good defending by the Hamilton backline forced Bavidge to pass the ball back to Adam Emslie. His one two attempt was well intercepted by the Hamilton centre half and the chance was nullified.

The first goal of the game shortly followed as in the eleventh minute a cross into the box from left winger Emslie is met by the head of striker Liam Harvey. His glancing header managed to tuck itself into the bottom right corner and give the young Dons the lead. A fantastic header.

Only three minutes later Aberdeen managed to double their lead.

A couple of brilliant and strong tackles from Finlay Murray meant the ball was played in the direction of Bavidge. He slotted home his first of the game after rounding Hamilton keeper Reece Murray and making it 2-0 to the Dons.

In the seventeenth minute Emslie nearly got in on the goalscoring after a nice pass from Brendan Hamilton to Emslie. His curling effort was well held by Hamilton keeper Murray.

Aberdeen's third goal came in the twenty-seventh minute after a brilliant sliding tackle from captain Dylan Lobban on the edge of the Hamilton box left the ball at Bavidge's feet with plenty of space, giving him time to coolly slot home his second of the game.

Four minutes later, and incredibly another goal for the Dons as left back Hamilton and Emslie link up nicely for a one-two which allowed Hamilton space to cross the ball in. However, the cross ended up finding the net as it looped up over the unfortunate goalkeeper and in off the right-hand post to give Aberdeen a 4-0 lead.

Thirty-six minutes in and the visitors forced a brilliant save out of Blessing Oluyemi as Accies Liam Morgan got the ball played to him 10 yards from goal. Morgan's inside of the boot curling effort looked destined for the net but an acrobatic save from Oluyemi kept his clean sheet. The big keeper made a couple of important saves in the first half.

Bavidge managed to bag yet another hat-trick in the thirty eighth minute as a pass through allowed the Scotland U17 striker time to jink side to side and free up space from the last Hamilton defender and he slotted home his third and Aberdeen's fifth. Alfie has now netted five hat-tricks this season already.

Just shy of half time, confusion in the Aberdeen back line meant the ball being passed back to Oluyemi and the keeper picking the ball up which the referee deems a pass back. The consequential free kick from 5 yards out was blocked well by the Dons and away for a corner.

A quite brilliant first forty-five minutes from Barry Robson's side.

It was Hamilton who had he first big chance of the second half as in the fifty-second minute, Ben Black took a hard and low shot which is matched and saved well by Oluyemi.

However, in the fifty-fifth minute, Aberdeen made it six as Bavidge picked the ball up on the right-hand side and fires a sensational cross over to the back post that is met by the head of Adam Emslie. His header looped over the Hamilton keeper and into the back of the net.

In the sixty-third minute, Aberdeen were on the attack again after good hassling from midfielder Findlay Marshall gave him space, Marshall passed the ball off to Stewart who?s curling attempt is well saved by Murray and over the bar.

The final chance of the game for Aberdeen came in the eighty fifth minute as fantastic footwork down the right-hand side from Emslie granted him acres of free space. Emslie?s ball is good but is met by Hamilton keeper.

The game ended 6-0 to the young Dons, this was a very significant performance and result.
