Aberdeen 4 - 0 Hibernian

The young Dons came flying out the traps, with Bavidge latching onto a short back pass in the opening minute to open the scoring.

Bavidge continued to create challenges for the Hibs defence in the opening exchanges, this time clipping the near post with a close-range effort. Brendan Hamilton was also causing problems with his crosses; it was the young left back who saw his shot sail over the bar on the ten-minute mark.

Blessing Oluyemi was called into action for the first time after fifteen minutes, pushing an effort from Josh Landers past his goal. It wasn't long until Aberdeen were back creating chances, this time Alfie Stewart had his shot saved by Freddie Owens in the visitor's net, winning the first corner of the match in the process.

After 25 minutes Aberdeen doubled their advantage through Liam Harvey who managed to stretch out and connect with another Hamilton cross on the volley. Aberdeen were buzzing, Harvey and Bavidge were at the heart of everything going forward and two soon became three as the pair linked up again, with Harvey setting up Bavidge once more with a neat through ball who then made no mistake, stretching out to put it low past the keeper, giving his side a healthy advantage.

Hibernian replied with a spell of their own pressure, Adam Emslie went into the referee's book after a slack challenge in the middle of the park. The resulting free kick saw Hibs win their first corner of the match, but Aberdeen defended well to ensure the clean sheet remained intact.

If Hibs were to salvage anything from the match it looked most likely to come from Jacob Macintyre who forced Oluyemi into his best save of the match with just over five minutes of the half remaining, stretching out to put the ball behind for a corner.

Half-Time: Aberdeen 3-0 Hibernian

After a scintillating first half it was always going to be a challenge for the performance to be matched in the second 45 but the young Dons kept going, defending resolutely, and looking dangerous when they got forward. The visitors passed up on a few half chances inside the first ten minutes of the half, Josh Landers had his chance caught by Oluyemi.

Adam Emslie's pace going forward was a thorn in the side of the Hibernian backline as they struggled to keep up him as he grew into the game. Harvey and Bavidge linked up again after 68 minutes, with Harvey showing real strength to take down a long kick up the middle and play the ball through, but Bavidge couldn't seal his hat-trick quite yet with the shot going wide.

The game began to show signs of slowing down with 30 minutes left on the clock. The visitors won a few corners, but they ultimately came to nothing and their frustration in front of goal continued, putting a header inches past the post.

Soon enough the young Dons were back dominating, and Alfie Bavidge got his reward for a tremendous performance, latching onto an inch perfect through ball from the skipper Dylan Lobban and coolly rounding Owens in goal before slotting home for four.

With his side 4-0 up, Barry Robson elected to make two changes in quick succession for the closing period of the match, with the impressive Victor Enem making way for Milosz Ochmanski. Soon after Liam Harvey was replaced by Cameron Wilson to see out the last eight minutes.

The final chance of the match was for Blair McKenzie, who rose highest to get his head on the end of a well worked set piece routine from a corner, but unfortunately it was too high.

A brilliant performance from the young Dons who collected all three points.
