Young Dons Lucky At Kirkcaldy

TWO PENALTIES MISSED BY RAITH ROVERS "A"

Aberdeen's reserve side was distinctly lucky to take a point from their visit to Kirkcaldy, but on the other hand the home side had to shoulder the blame for missing many chances. Three penalties were awarded the homesters, and only one was converted.
With several recognised first team players in the line-up, Aberdeen started promisingly, but there was a slackness in finishing and fine leading up work by the inside men went for nothing. Raith came more into their own on the interval, but Peattie missed a chance to put them ahead by sending behind from a penalty.
After a spurt by Aberdeen " A " on the resumption, the homesters soon took up the attack, and after McKay had been brought down Heywood made no mistake with the spot kick. The inside forward, however, missed a penalty a few minutes later.
It looked as if Raith would take the points, but just on time Williams levelled the scores with an angular shot. Best for the homesters were Peattie. Morrison and Heywood. For the visitors, Dunlop, Mackie and Taylor did best.
