Last Minutes' Storm Swamps Young Dons

UNINSPIRED DEFENCES AT SOMERSET PARK

As might be gathered from the result, the play of the respective defences was not as good as it might have been at Somerset Park in the Reserve League match between Ayr and Aberdeen. Credit must be given to both attacks, however, for the manner in which they snapped the chances which came their way.
Aberdeen at one time held a two-goal lead, and in the second half were again in front, but the Ayr reserves were triers all the time, and won deservedly.
Mackie gave the visitors the lead from a free kick, and Pattillo notched a second. Ayr retaliated, and Thow scored twice in as many minutes, but McKenzie again gave Aberdeen "A" the advantage. Then came Ayr's turn, and goals by Hope and Craig put them in front. Campbell equalised before half-time.
For twenty-five minutes in the second half there was no scoring, but the "storm" started again when McKenzie netted for Aberdeen "A." This seemed to rouse the homesters, and goals by Hope, Thow and Craig (2) gave them the points.
Kirkland, Halcrow. Craig and Thow were the stars in the home side. Kelly was not confident in goal for the visitors, and the backs were uncomfortable under pressure. The halves tried hard without being too successful, while Hume and McKenzie were best in attack.
