W. Scott Gets Five Against Juniors

ABERDEEN "A" FLATTERED BY 8-2 VICTORY

The Aberdeen Reserves were rather flattered by their margin of victory in his annual match Pittodrie last night. A crowd of 2000 saw the Junior Select serve up some nice outfield play, but their finishing was not on a par, and it was in this respect that the seniors held the advantage. The juniors did not deserve to be 4-1 down at the interval.
W. Scott, the best of the "A" team forwards, helped himself to five goals, while Penrose, who was a senior with Liverpool last season, was responsible for both the juniors' goals. The other goals for the Pittodrie reserve side were netted by Baird, Brady and Williams.
Kelly was a good 'keeper for the winners, and of the backs Donald was the better, although he had a stitch inserted in his forehead after being kicked. Grant played another good game at centre-half, and was mainly responsible for the subjection the junior attack.
Scott was the only forward to do anything of note, but it must be admitted that Williams did not get much support. Taylor went off injured twenty minutes from the close, but he had not had a good game.
For the juniors, Doig in goal had no chance with the shots which beat him, while Bathgate, the Aberdeen "provisional," and Cheyne played pluckily at back. Murray and Morrison, the wing halves, came out of the game with credit.
Apart from Penrose and Cox, who is provisionally signed by Aberdeen, none the forwards was much in the game, Watson fading away after a bright start.
