Aberdeen 'A' Find Beith Stiff Proposition

RITCHIE SMITH NETS TWICE

By dropping a point at Beith Saturday, Aberdeen "A" have given the Celtic reserves a chance to draw level with them on points, relatively at least. The Parkhead second string are now two points behind the Young Dons, but have played a game less. The Young Dons' chances of retaining the Alliance championship, however, are still bright.

On Saturday the Young Dons found Beith a stiffer proposition than was expected, and could only succeed in dividing the points and six goals. The Young Dons were first to be dangerous, Taylor hitting the post with a smart shot. Cope, the home right winger, was next in the picture, and Johnstone did well to turn his shot past the post for a corner.
After ten minutes, the Aberdeen reserves took the lead. Ritchie Smith drove in a hard ball, which was deflected off Blyth's foot into the net.

BEITH AHEAD

Beith came away strongly after this, and two quick goals gave them the lead at the interval. Lindsay made no mistake from a penalty kick, and five minutes from the interval Walker put them on the lead.
The Young Dons made a brisk start, and within five minutes got the equaliser. Temple netted from a free kick just outside the penalty area.
For a time it looked if Beith would again take the lead, but when their attack was at its hottest Ritchie Smith broke away, sending into an empty goal to again put the visitors in the lead. In the next minute, however, Bell put the teams on level terms again.
Both teams went out for the winning goal, but the defences held out.
