Make Rangers 'A' Work Hard for Goals
A large crowd witnessed a thrilling encounter at Ibrox, where the Alliance League leaders were made to go all the way. Rangers "A" were superior in the inside-forward positions and this turned the scale in their favour. In the opening stages the Aberdeen goal withstood several onslaughts, Gavin being prominent on several occasions. Both goals were visited in turn and a fast pace was maintained.Young Dons Lead
Fifteen minutes after the start, Brown rounded McKillop and scored a fine goal to give the Young Dons the lead. The Ibrox reserves made desperate efforts to equalise before half-time, but packing their goal, Aberdeen "A" turned round still holding to the lead. Rangers "A" were desperate on resuming and two quick goals by McHarg saw them take the lead. Even then the issue was in doubt, as the visitors made desperate efforts to equalise matters.Settling the Issue
There was nothing doing, however, and five minutes from time Brownlie settled the game in favour of the homesters when he scored during a goalmouth scrimmage. Best for Rangers "A" were: Hay, Kennedy, Winning, McAulay, McHarg and Galloway. For Aberdeen "A," Temple, Gavin, Warnock and Ritchie Smith were best.Source: Press & Journal, 25th November 1935
