Young Dons Have to Go All Out for Points.
Aberdeen A had to fight hard to retain both Alliance points in a stirring encounter with Dundee "A" at Pittodrie. A two-goal lead at the interval somewhat flattered the Young Dons, who had had the benefit of a boisterous wind. Johnston was left with an easy task to pilot through the first from close range. The homesters' second goal, scored by Conwell, was one of the best things of the match. Manoeuvring cleverly towards the centre of the field the inside man found the net with a brilliant drive from twenty-five yards. The Dark Blues got a goal immediately on resuming, tapping the ball through after Westland had pushed out a shot from MacKay. Aberdeen A looked to their laurels after this, and Smith, the Mugiemoss player, who figured at outside-left, restored their two goal lead with a pretty shot. The visitors were full of fight, and retaliated with a goal within a minute. Quigley netting almost from the touchline. It was a fighting finish to a thoroughly enjoyable game. Aberdeen's defence, including, at right back, McCrae, another Mugiemoss player, showed up well. Anderson was the best of the middle trio, with Conwell and Moore outstanding forward. Strong both at back and at half-back, with a clever attack, the visitors were a well-balanced side. Laing, MacKay. and Quigley were a trio of dangerous raiders.Source: Press & Journal, 10th September 1934
