Aberdeen Colts Beat Wick Academy 5-1.

NORTH TEAM'S GAME DISPLAY.

Wick Academy were beaten 5-1 at Pittodrie, but they were far from disgraced. Although outclassed in the later stages, when their "staying power" gave way and superior training and greater experience told, the lads from the far north always made a game fight of it.

They showed smart touches at times and their goal in the closing stages was well deserved. Flannigan was a sound back, while they have a left-half of great promise in MacDonald. This lad was the "star" of the side, showing splendid ball control and feeding his forwards in fine style.
Rutherford at centre-half was a tower of strength in defence and was not slow to back up his forwards in attack.
W. Thomson was a smart inside left, while Oag, on the extreme right, sent across some nice centres. He would do well, however, to shoot first-time more often instead of taking deliberate aim.

Dashing Leader.

Dr Bain, the Elgin City player, was a dashing leader, and his efforts were not attended with the best success.
Aberdeen took command at the start and gained a footing in Wick territory by a series of neat passing movements. Swanson was well covered, however, and had little to do. Miller, W. Thomson and Dr Bain were prominent for Academy and Westland saved a grounder from the inside-left.
The Young Dons continued to have the better of matters, but ten minutes had gone before Swanson made his first real save - great drive from Anderson.
Two minutes later Love gathered a ball on the left and lobbed it over for Conwell to head into the net.
The visitors' sharp raids were often dangerous, and on one occasion Westland experienced some difficulty in saving a fine drive by Oag.
Dr Bain had Westland in action again to a fast, rising shot, after W. Thomson had cleverly carried the ball through. Wick made quite a good fight of it and near the interval Westland was called on to deal with two splendidly taken corners by Miller.

Johnston's Pile-Driver.

Early in the second half Johnston almost shattered the upright with a pile-driver from a Moore pass, and within ten minutes Moore took advantage of a Johnston centre to increase the home' total.
Love added a third, his shot entering the net off a defender.
Johnston and Moore took the ball upfield for Conwell to make the total four.
Wick were game to the last and Oag got the crossbar with a fine drive, while Donald headed over a Rutherford pile-driver which was well on the mark.
Aberdeen lost the services of Love, who came by an ankle injury, and during his absence Banks inadvertently hooked a Moore corner past his own keeper.
Wick got a well-earned goal near the close. Dr Bain raced through, staved off a challenge by Gavin and slipped the ball to Miller, who banged into the net.
