Armstrong Scores Winning Goal in Last Few Minutes.
A goal scored by Armstrong in the last five minutes the game gave Aberdeen "A" a narrow odd goal in three victory over St Johnstone at Muirton Park. The Saints made the running at the start, but with eight minutes gone Love gave the young Dons the lead with a grand goal. The homesters retaliated, and struck the upright. Armstrong, Love, and Donald were prominent for Aberdeen. Twenty-five minutes after the start "Newman" brought the scores level from a Calder pass. Until the interval both teams attacked in turn, but there was no further scoring. Aberdeen restarted in sprightly fashion, and Smith saved from Robertson and Anderson in quick succession. The young Dons were not to be denied, and after Love had hit the woodwork from an Armstrong pass, the centre had the ball in the net, but was given offside. Keeping the ball swinging, the visitors held a decided advantage, and a goal was overdue when, near the close, Armstrong beat the two backs to score the winner.Source: Press & Journal, 13th November 1933
