Young Dons Beat Bo'ness Under Handicap.
Playing with ten men for the greater part of their Alliance League game with Bo'ness at Pittodrie, Aberdeen "A" defeated the new Newton Park combination with greater ease than even the comfortable margin of three goals would suggest. In a game marked by frequent stoppages for injuries. "Andy" Love, the home outside-left, suffered the most serious mishap of the afternoon. Early in the game Love received an accidental blow on the temple from an opposing defender's elbow, and had to assisted off the field. After being examined by doctor in the dressing-room, it was deemed advisable send the player to the Royal Infirmary for an X-ray examination, there being a fear that a bone may have been fractured.Sharp Does Not Finish.
Claud Sharp, the home left back, was also in the wars. In averting a certain goal in the second half he strained himself, and a few minutes from the end he limped off the field. Adam and Armstrong also came in for nasty knocks, but these did not deter them from keeping the home forward line, handicapped as it was, a consistent force. Armstrong helped himself to two good goals, after Aberdeen had crossed over with a lead of one goal, scored by Love just prior to his coming by his injury. But for the brilliant display of Kelly in the visiting goal, the Young Dons might well have , doubled their score. Lawie played a forcing game in the depleted forward line, and behind, Anderson, the new left-half from Stonehaven was the "star." The home defence was never stretched. The visitors' strength lay in defence, and of a disjointed forward line Kilpatrick and Sneddon were the most enterprising attackers.Source: Press & Journal, 2nd October 1933
