Airdrie A Never in Hunt at Pittodrie.
Aberdeen '"A' had no difficulty in reaching double figures in their opening home Alliance League game against Airdrie A at Pittodrie. The young Dons scored five goals in each half without unduly exerting themselves. The opposition was woefully weak, and after a spirited opening the visiting attack faded completely out of the picture. Their defence had a gruelling time, the bright home forwards walking round them almost at will. The Pittodrie scorers were:- Warnock (4), Adam (3), Love (2), and Nicol. A pleasing feature of the game was the fine form displayed at inside-left by Nicol, the new man from Sunderland. Gavin also pleased the crowd by his promising display at centre-half. Warnock was in one of his most irresistible moods, and he and Adam played with fine understanding. It was a day out for the home forwards, with the half-backs, and even backs, frequently coming up to have a shot as well.Source: Press & Journal, 21st August 1933
