Young Dons Keep Up Shield Wins.

Aberdeen A retained their unbeaten record in the Alliance Shield competition by soundly defeating Hearts A at Pittodrie before a big crowd.

It was am exhilarating game, but after the Young Dons opened the scoring the issue was never really in doubt. Armstrong and Warnock between them were responsible for the first point, the latter's foot finally piloting the ball through. Before the interval O'Reilly scored from a free-kick, and in the second half he repeated the process from practically the same spot, a yard or go outside the penalty-box. A lightning drive by McLean brought the fourth goal.
Hearts were a virile side, but were woefully weak in front of goal. In the course of the game they tried three centre-forwards, but not one of the trio could make anything of Thomson, the home centre-half. Gardiner, the regular leader, went to outside-right in the second half, but Johnstone, who took his place, was more successful, while Walker, who finished ln the centre, and was the most enterprising of the three, also failed to penetrate the home defence.

Forwards Who "Fiddled."

The Hearts' forwards may be said to have lost the match for their side.
They had no lack of opportunities, but they "fiddled" about in tantalising fashion. The home men, by comparison, were the essence of directness, the two wingers, Warnock and McLean, being dangerous raiders, each with a ready shot. The inside men, Adam and McDermid, were rare workers, and Armstrong was trier at centre all the time.
O'Reilly's feat in scoring twice from free-kicks was notable indeed, and with Thomson holding up the Maroons centre-of-the-field, and Donald forcing matters on the left, there was a half-back strength which could not be denied. Cumming was brilliant in goal, with Jackson the better of two sound backs.
