Junior Select Put Up Stout Fight.

PLAYERS WHO WERE PROMINENT. It was quite an interesting game, but the superior training of the seniors told, and they finally ran out easy winners by four goals to one.
The youthful junior team - some of whom have been a season or less in the junior ranks - gave a good account of themselves.
They played very well for a time in the second period when they were on level terms, but towards the close they obviously tired, and the Pittodrie team were superior.
Aberdeen had two American players on trial, Lafferty, a centre-half who was with New York Giants, and Curtis, an inside-left, who has seen service with Brooklyn Wanderers. The former played quite soundly in defence, and the latter, without being brilliant, was clever.
The Aberdeen defence was sound. Donald was the best half afield, his accurate passing in the first half being a feature. He was not so prominent in the second period. Warnock and Thomson, the reserve centre-half, who was playing at inside-right, were Aberdeen's most dangerous attackers. Thomson showed great cleverness on the ball, and his distribution was excellent, but his finishing was weak.
Gowans (Loco. Works) was a sound defender for the juniors, and Willox (Richmond) was the dominating figure in the intermediate line. Patterson, (Parkvale) was a clever and enterprising attacker and was the best of the junior forwards. Stewart (Richmond), at centre, was a dashing leader, but got few chances.

Description of Play.

Aberdeen made the running at the start, and there was an early thrill when the Junior 'keeper held a great drive from Donald, despite the fact that he was unsighted by one of his backs.
The juniors moved briskly when they got going, and Westland twice went near with good tries.
Aberdeen continued to play the better football, but the juniors were an enthusiastic side, although they could make no impression on the Aberdeen defence. With twenty minutes gone the Dons took the lead. Armstrong connected with a hefty clearance from Jackson, and Donald was beaten all ends up.
The juniors improved and became more penetrative, and Cumming brought off good saves from Drummond and Westland. The juniors got a fright when Armstrong drew the 'keeper, and his shot was going into the net when Murphy dashed in to clear the line. The homesters held their advantage until the interval.
Aberdeen resumed on the offensive, and Armstrong struck the upright with Donald well beaten. Curtis came into the limelight with a clever run, but he finished weakly. The juniors retaliated through Patterson on the right, but Westland shot wildly over.

Juniors Equalise.

The juniors were playing well and deservedly equalised ten minutes after the restart. Stewart got through, beat the backs, and drew the ball away from the advancing Cumming to send into an empty goal.
The juniors played strongly after this success, but with twenty-five minutes gone Warnock fastened on to a long cross from Curtis and raced in to send into the net. Near the close Thomson instigated a movement which resulted in Armstrong bringing the Aberdeen total to three from Warnock's pass. A minute later, after Armstrong had failed from a Mutch cross, Curtis dashed in to add a fourth goal.
