Reserves Fail Again

Forwards Weak Against Hibernians.

Aberdeen ' 'A' are failing fast, and their one-nothing defeat at the hands of Hibernians "A" at Easter Road, renders their chances of the Alliance League championship less bright.
Blackwell was the first 'keeper to be in action, having to hold a long range effort from Gilfeather. At the other end Blyth had difficulty in holding an effort by Merrie. With ten minutes gone Barker missed a chance for Aberdeen, and at the other end Blackwell saved at full length from Connell. Well served by their halfback line, subsequent exchanges favoured Aberdeen, and Barker with a terrific drive struck the post. Merrie and McKenzie had the Hibs 'keeper in action several times. The visitors had the better of the exchanges, but were weak at goal, and just on the interval Clelland gave the home team the lead.
Aberdeen resumed with a vigorous attack, and Merrie had hard luck with a great try. Hibernian retaliated and Clelland struck the crossbar. Barker broke away on the Aberdeen right but finished weakly. In another Aberdeen rally, Merrie and David were unfortunate, but the visitors might well have been on equal terms had they accepted their chances. The Aberdeen goal ran a narrow escape when T. Lauder hit the woodwork with Blackwell out of his charge. The Pittodrie 'keeper was in action to shots by Sclater and Kelly. The home team held the advantage in the closing stages.
