Aberdeen 'A' On Top Again

With a 6-2 victory over Montrose at Links Park, Aberdeen "A" once more assumed the leadership of the Alliance League. Rangers "A," who were joint leaders, only effected a draw with Falkirk, and are a point behind the Pittodrie side, although they have a match in hand. The feature of the game was three goals by McFarlane, the Aberdeen centre forward.
Montrose were first to be dangerous. Blackwell saving from Brown, and at the other end McHugh was in action to McFarlane. With fifteen minutes gone McKenzie scored from close range, to give Aberdeen the lead. Play swung from end to end, both keepers being constantly in action. Falloon increased the visitors' lead with a great drive which McHugh got his hands to, but could not stop. Soon afterwards, in a Montrose raid, Patterson reduced the leeway, but Wright nullified this by counting a third time for Aberdeen. Soon after the resumption Montrose were awarded a penalty for "hands," and from the resultant kick Patterson scored. Aberdeen attacked vigorously, and both Hill and Wilson had good efforts. Montrose forced a corner, from which nothing resulted, and Aberdeen did likewise at the other end, but from the spot kick McFarlane scored. A minute later from McHugh fisted out from Wilson, and then Montrose had several raids which were easily repulsed. Aberdeen crowded on all sail, and a mistake by the Montrose defence let McFarlane through to complete his "hat trick.
