Aberdeen Junior Select 1 - 2 Aberdeen

Teams representing the above played a friendly match at central park last night. Weather was cold and wintry, but notwithstanding there would be an attendance of some 500 spectators. Teams:-

Aberdeen A: King; Harper, Murphy; Moffat, Macfarlane, Robertson; Hay, Towns, Mackay, Henderson, Jaffrey.
Junior Select: up to toGreig (Muggiemoss); Dignan (St Andrews), Ross (Muggiemoss); Stronach (Parkvale), Paxton (Muggiemoss), Bisset (Parkvale); McHolland (St Andrews), Ewart (Parkvale), Davidson (Muggiemoss), Gray (Muggiemoss), Scorgie (Favourites).
Referee - Mr. McPherson, Mugiemoss.

The turf was very greasy, but the game all through was well contested, and there were some fine pieces of passing, the Juniors being in this respect not one whit behind the Pittodrie players. The "Whites" had the choice of playing downhill in the first 45 minutes, but the Juniors held their own, and Greig was only beaten by an effort from Moffat close in. McHolland was prominent with dashing runs on the right and only hill-luck prevented the other forwards from getting through some of his crosses. The match was fought on friendly lines, but the Juniors were overweighed by their opponents, although they made up for this in pluck. There was no more scoring at half-time.

On resuming, the Aberdeen defence had a trying time of it, and a splendid goal keeping of King alone saved them. At last Ewart got the equaliser, but in a few minutes the A team got on the lead, Moffat converting a penalty against one of the opposing backs. The blues fully deserved to equalise in the closing minutes, but King proved himself in splendid form and saved repeatedly.

For the Juniors, Ross and his backs, Paxton, McHolland, Ewart, and Davidson, caught the eye most. King was the outstanding man in the defence. The forwards were good and bad by turns, Mackay being the most dangerous.
